ON-SONG Dylan Russell called the tune for promotion hopefuls Bournemouth Sports in their BYFL Division Four under-15s match with Parley Sports.

The Bournemouth Sports striker scored four of the hosts’ five goals in a 5-1 triumph at Chapel Gate.

The contest, however, was much closer than the score line suggests with Parley enjoying a considerable amount of possession.

But it was Bournemouth who were quickest off the mark with Russell scoring twice in the opening 15 minutes.

After the early setback, Parley settled into the game and their pressure paid off when Ryan Vaile’s effort looped over the goalkeeper to reduce the deficit shortly before the interval.

The second half saw a fiercely-contested battle for midfield supremacy.

It was Lions, however, who broke the 30-minute deadlock when Russell followed up Matthew Harrison’s shot that cannoned back off the crossbar.

Adam Dunsford put the game beyond Parley’s reach before hat-trick hero Russell had the final say by netting his fourth late on.

A disappointed Parley boss Dan Watton said: “I felt we enjoyed the majority of possession but ended up losing by four goals which wasn’t a true reflection of a close-fought game.

“We went three at the back for the last 10 minutes in search of an equaliser and ended up letting in three goals.”

Bournemouth Sports’ joint-manager Darren Rolfe admitted: “Parley were knocking on the door in the second half but with some great defending our back four managed to keep them at bay.

“It was a great team performance from all our players, who at times had to dig deep, but came out on top to be worthy winners.”

Victory saw second-placed Bournemouth Sports close the gap on leaders Redhill Rangers to just one point.

The top teams’ nearest title rivals locked horns on Sunday, with Branksome United edging a nine-goal thriller against Sway Juniors.
