Football: Bashley boss Pyatt inspired by loyal players

Bournemouth Echo: SPIRIT: Bashley's joint-boss John Pyatt SPIRIT: Bashley's joint-boss John Pyatt

JOINT-BOSS John Pyatt insists he is loving life at Bashley and reckons the spirit engendered by their recent woes inspired Saturday’s success at Arlesey Town.

A motion for the New Forest club to fold at the end of the season was put to members on Tuesday before cash-strapped Bash announced they would operate without a playing budget for the rest of the campaign.

Undeterred, Bash dug in to record a 1-0 victory over their Bedfordshire hosts and move off the bottom of the Southern League Premier Division thanks to Manny Soetan’s first-half goal.

And while the outlook off the pitch remains bleak for Bash, Pyatt sees no sign of his side throwing in the towel.

“Everyone knows where they are now and the boys are sticking together," said Pyatt.

"We are under no pressure and the players can enjoy a little bit of the limelight now there is some attention round the club.

“The match was a cracker, the boys worked so hard and it was just reward because we hadn’t been far away in recent weeks.

“I have been at struggling clubs before and you just have to keep going. I am no quitter and I know that if the club had not been in a bad position then I probably wouldn’t have been offered the job in the first place.

"It is still a great opportunity and being involved with a bunch of lads who sticking with it despite not are getting paid inspires me even more.”

Bash: Jones, Rolls, Flint, Ansell, Marden, Bulpitt, Roberts, Soetan, Kenna (Manders, 71), Odam, Strickland (Morris, 67). Unused sub: Brookes.

I think it's a "given" that he wouldn't be anywhere near the place if Bashed weren't such a basket case.
His only credentials were that people thought he had a few quid! All this nonsense going around that players are playing for nothing makes me laugh - it simply isn't happening. SOME may be, but they're the ones that wouldn't be good enough to get wages at a Wessex club anyway!
Now they're talking about setting up a justgiving site! Bashed aren't a charitable cause, they're just a poorly managed football club with no fanbase living beyond their means.
"Do not resuscitate"

£5000 required in 30 days to "return the pitch and playing facilities to top condition"
All this dressed up to "save our club" when the kit man already stated last week that £10k wouldn't be enough?
Any money donated now is only delaying the inevitable - personally I'd rather see proper charitable donations go to something much more worthwhile and deserving.

At least their pitch is playable. Maybe Poole should cut their playing budget and spend a few quid on the pitch as its now gonna be their downfall for this season and you have no chance of going up! Well done bashley a great result, nice to see players not chucking in the towel when the money is removed. Wonder if the same would happen at Poole?

The money HASN'T been removed for at least half of the players.
Comparing PTFC to Bashley or AFC Totton doesn't really work does it? 2 clubs on their collective backsides due to mismanagement by glorified Barmen and Kitmen at the helm, 1 club being professionally administered in the right direction on and off the unplayable pitch!

And how would a Poole Town supporter know this?
