RISING stars Oscar and Dillon Valentine collected an armful of trophies at Swanage & District SAC’s annual presentation evening.

The brothers, aged nine and 12 respectively, carried off nearly all the junior prizes including the junior shore championship shield and the overall junior club champion.

England international Becky Adams collected the ladies’ shore championship trophy, while Graham Woods became the senior shore champion and Will Chellingworth the overall club champion.

  • The Angling Trust has announced England’s international teams for 2014 with Tom Wartnaby set to land his first cap.

The Sandbanks man has been selected for the Home International Junior Shore Championships being held in Scotland during July.

Also in the five-strong team which will be managed by Southbourne’s David Graham is Jaon Voller from Christchurch. Callum Graham has been selected for both the world and Home Youth 21 shore teams.

Christchurch’s Tony Oldfield is also a member of the World Youth 21 shore team which will be managed by Malcolm Stote from Lymington.

Becky Adams, a member of the Swanage club, is in the home international ladies’ team.

Lymington’s Steve Batchelor is again in the home international boat team while Sway’s Chris Clark is both the assistant manager and travelling reserve for the world shore team.

  • For the time of year, a variety of species were recorded during the first round of the Wessex Tackle & Guns Spring Series held at Branksome Chine.

They included flounders, sole, plaice, scorpion fish, pout, whiting, rockling and bass. Simon Berry was the top performer in the A section with 19 fish for 362cm, followed by Alan Johanson (338cm) and Malcolm Parsons (323cm).

The pool for the longest flatfish in the section was won by Steve Lawrence with a 29cm flounder, while the round fish prize was won by Andy Mitchell with a 32cm bass.

Jeffery Fisk, a member of Bournemouth & District SAA, ran out a clear winner in B section with 19 fish measuring 399cm, followed by Dave Chidzoy (283cm) and Graham Berry (273cm).

Mike Gale collected the prize for the longest round fish with a 26cm whiting, while the flatfish pool was won by Brian Strong with an 18cm plaice.

  • Browndown Beach was the setting for the second round of the Allan’s Marine pegged open Super League catch & release midweek fixture, where flounders, pout and whiting supplied most of the action. Results: 1 Mick Goodger 2-0, 2 Darren Phillips 1-12.75, 3 Mike Brown 1-12.25, 4 Mick Amos 1-11.25, 5 Darren Perrett 1-6.25.

The next match in the pegged open series will be held at Lee-on-Solent on March 18 with fishing from 8pm till midnight.

  • Hordle Lakes was the setting for the second round of the Bournemouth Fishing Lodge series, where Mark Blake took the honours with a 71-4 net of carp taken on the long pole to bread. Others: 2 Steve Nadin 68-10, 3 Tom Miller 60-10, 4 Alex Nadin 53-10, 5 Pete Christopher 51-12, 6 Bob Wackeril 44-2.

AROUND THE CLUBS

  • Christchurch & District FC: Steamer Point was the setting for the second round of the catch-and-release Winter League where flounders, whiting, pout, bass and rockling supplied the action.

The pool for the longest round fish was shared by Keith Mills, Robin Thorne and Tony Amos who all recorded a 26cm whiting.

The flatfish section was won by Tony Amos with a 17cm flounder. Results: 1 Tony Amos 525cm, 2 Keith Mills 395cm, 3 Lee Roberts 392cm, 4 Tim Vivian 377cm, 5 Robin Thorne 369cm.

  • Swanage & District SAC: A catch-and-release shore competition within Poole Harbour was won by Wenda Rice with a 42cm catch of flounders, followed by Alex Allson with 38cm and Simon Hardy with 31cm.
