CHERRIES frontman Josh McQuoid has joined League One high-fliers Peterborough United on a month’s loan with a view to remaining at London Road for the rest of the season.

McQuoid, who was also a loan target for MK Dons, has been restricted to just one appearance for Cherries this season.

The 24-year-old lined up in the 1-1 draw with Ipswich in December, having been ruled out by a knee injury since pre-season.

McQuoid, a product of the Dean Court youth ranks, was one of former boss Paul Groves’s first signings when he returned to the club from Millwall in May 2012.

He made 39 appearances during Cherries’ promotion campaign before suffering cartilage damage to his right knee in the summer, which required surgery.

McQuoid left Dean Court for Millwall in a £515,000 deal in January 2011 after initially moving to the Den on loan. He was snapped up by the Lions following an explosive 14-week spell that saw him plunder 12 goals in just 16 starts for Cherries and earn his first full cap for Northern Ireland.
