AFC Bournemouth: Simon Francis relishing Tangerines test
SIMON Francis insists Cherries are relishing the challenge of trying to break through the Championship’s tightest defence when leaders Blackpool visit Dorset.
Cherries will get the chance to build on their encouraging opening to the season when they entertain the second tier’s pacesetters on Saturday.
While Eddie Howe’s men have scored six times and let in 12 goals in five league games, Blackpool have conceded just twice during an unbeaten start.
But right-back Francis, an ever-present with seven appearances this term, revealed Cherries had been working on ways to dent the fine record of Paul Ince’s team.
The 28-year-old told the Daily Echo: “I am really excited about it and I am sure all the lads, the club and the fans are as well. I hope it will be an entertaining game.
“Blackpool have been really impressive this season under Paul Ince and they have played some good football and haven’t conceded many goals.
“It will be tough for us to break them down and that is the kind of work we have been doing in training because they will be a solid, well organised team. It is our job, especially at home, to try to push them back and create goals.”
Francis says Cherries have enjoyed a productive international break. He added: “The gaffer always wants to work hard in training and he puts on really good, thorough and intense sessions. Those sessions make you think as well, so there is no doubt we have benefited from these couple of weeks of training.”
