AFC Bournemouth: Doncaster boss Paul Dickov impressed with fellow Scotsman Ryan Fraser
FORMER Scotland international Paul Dickov gave Ryan Fraser a glowing report after the teenage winger had played his part in Cherries’ first away victory of the season.
Doncaster boss Dickov, who was capped 10 times by his country between 2000 and 2004, was on the receiving end as Fraser helped Cherries to a 1-0 win over Rovers on Saturday.
And the ex-Manchester City, Leicester and Blackburn striker (pictured right) admitted he had been impressed with the Aberdonian’s contribution at the Keepmoat Stadium.
Dickov, who was appointed Doncaster manager during the summer, told the Daily Echo: “I thought he played ever so well against us.
“He is sharp and has got a lot of desire about him. He has also got a lot of quality. Eddie has shown what a good player he thinks he is by putting him straight into the team in the Championship.
“I know the national team has had a few good results of late but the one thing Scotland needs is more younger players like Ryan pushing into the under-21s and then into the first team.”
Fraser, capped six times by Scotland at under-19 level, will be hoping to play a part in their European Under-21 Championship qualifier against Holland tonight.
The 19-year-old was handed his under-21 debut when he came off the bench in their first group match, a 3-0 win against Luxembourg at St Mirren Park in March.
