YOUNG swimmers from across Dorset and the New Forest will be raising money for a youngster with cerebral palsy.

Swim school Puddle Ducks, which holds classes at private pools across the area will be holding 'pyjama parties' throughout the week, starting November 7.

The organisation is raising money for five-year-old Stanley Senior, who has quadriplegic dystonic cerebral palsy.

The youngster's condition is too severe to be treated with an operation, and his family are trying to raise £30,000 for a hydrotherapy pool which Stanley can use along with other local children with disabilities.

Sophie Jensen, marketing manager at Puddle Ducks said the pyjama sessions would raise money for Stanley's Hydro House and Dorset Children's Foundation.

Families had been asked to select a charity and chose Stanley's Hydro House, she said.

"Money will be raised through sponsored swims and our raffle. This also teaches our children an amazing lesson in water safety, and give them a chance to feel their weight and buoyancy in the water when clothed.

"Stanley was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at 8 months old, since then the number one thing that has made a difference to Stanley is hydrotherapy.

"For the rest of the day he is like a different child both physically and emotionally. In the water he feels free, relaxed and empowered."

Last year the charity raised £1,400 for the neonatal unit at Poole Hospital.

Sophie added: "Everyone is really looking forward to the events and hope we can raise a lot of money to help Stanley's fund."

Stanley's mum Leela previously told the Daily Echo that Stanley's wish is to be able to perform a backflip in his wheelchair one day.
