Bournemouth Pier will be lit up tonight when the third annual 'Light up the Prom' takes place. The event starts at 7.30pm and will see hundreds of people pay tribute to people who have died. Organised by Bournemouth Hospital Charity and Macmillan Caring Locally, the evening will begin when the prom is lit with hundreds of lights followed by a dazzling fireworks display alongside a special performance by the Funky Little Choir.

Lou Lou’s Vintage Fair will take place at the Pavilion on Sunday, October 23 from 10am until 4pm. Admission is £2.

History and Horrors: a Boscombe Journey is the title of a free guided walk as part of the Shelley Frankenstein Festival. Hattie Miles will lead the walk on Saturday, October 22, 11am, from the Sovereign Centre, and will tell you about Boscombe’s hidden secrets, as well as characters created by famous authors with local connections. Details are at walkingtalks.wordpress.com

The Wimborne Food & Drink Festival takes place between 10am and 4pm on Saturday. There will be a Dorset Farmers' Market in the Square, The Anonymous Travelling Market will be at Deans Court with food stalls, artisan producers and live music. There will be a demonstration kitchen in the Cornmarket at 11am, Rasa Sayang will be cooking in Mill Lane. There will be a pancake competition at Daccombes stand in High Street, wine tasting in the Cornmarket and a children's cupcake competition at Waitrose stand in High Street. The event is free to attend. 

Make your own lantern at Stour Valley Nature Reserve on Sunday between 10am and 4pm. The free event is part of Festival of Light week, which will culminate in a lantern procession on Saturday, October 29. 

Music will be performed by band Hat Trick at the Mudeford Club in Stanpit on Saturday. The gig starts at 8.30pm and entrance is free.

IT’S autumn colours weekend at Sherborne Castle. See the magnificent displays of colour in the castle grounds tomorrow and Sunday from 10am to 5pm. Gardens only entry is £4 for adults and children go free.

The Inside Out Painters will host their second annual art exhibition at Church House from Saturday, October 22 until the following Saturday, October 29. Donations and a percentage of all sales will go to the Lewis-Manning Hospice. The venue will be open from 10am until 5pm daily. Admission is free.

The four-day Snowtrax Ski and Snowboard Show runs at Snowtrax on Matchams Lane, Christchurch, until Sunday. There will be free ski and snowboard taster lessons on the outdoor slope and big discounts on snowboard equipment and clothing. Entry is free. 

An Autumn Wedding Fair is being held at Highcliffe Castle on Sunday, October 23 from 10.30am to 4pm. Entry £1.
