THREE men have been arrested after sunglasses worth £10,000 were allegedly stolen from a Poole opticians.

The burglary took place at Leightons Opticians in the High Street at 1.40am on Tuesday, July 26.

Police claim a number of thieves smashed the glass window at the front of the shop before taking the sunglasses.

Officers arrested three local men aged 44, 38 and 19 on suspicion of burglary.

The three are on police bail until the middle of September 2016 pending further enquiries.

Detectives are also investigating an incident at Matthews Opticians in Sherborne on Sunday, July 24, where it was reported that pairs of sunglasses were stolen following a break-in. Officers are keeping an open mind as to whether the incidents are linked.

Detective Constable Laura McQueen, of Poole and Bournemouth CID, called for anyone with information to get in touch with police.

"I would particularly like to speak to anyone who has been offered sunglasses for sale in suspicious circumstances," she said.

"It is also possible some sunglasses may have been discarded nearby so if you do discover such items please don't touch them and report it to police immediately."
