A BEAUTIFUL baby boy born in Poole has become the fifth living generation of the same family.

Luca made history for the Gay family after being born at Poole Hospital on October 2, weighing 7lb 12oz.

Luca’s parents Lauren Shorey and Connor Fraud, who live in Verwood, said they were over the moon Lauren said: “I always hoped that my great-nan would be able to meet my baby but now it’s actually happened and she’s so well, it’s just amazing.”

The 20-year-old added: “Every time anyone meets him for the first time, they just seem to adore him. He’s so content.”

With almost 10 decades between him and his great-great-grandmother, the bonny baby represents the fifth generation on his maternal side.

His grandmother Amanda Shorey, 43, his great-grandmother Patricia Gay, 62, and his great-great grand-mother Rose Gay, 96, said they were delighted by the latest addition to the family.

“I think it’s just amazing,” Amanda said.

“After we realised there were five generations on my side, my husband told me there are also five generations in his family. It must be in the genes.”

She added: “We are very fortunate. I have got cousins who have had children and their parents never got to meet them. I feel very lucky that we can celebrate together.”

Patricia said: “It’s incredible. How many people can say they have got five generations in the family?

“We just love him to pieces.”

Having been born two weeks early, Luca suffered from jaundice and had to make regular trips to the hospital for treatment.

Now two weeks old, he’s making good progress and is a healthy and happy boy.

Amanda added: “He’s so laid back.

“My daughter is very lucky – she didn’t sleep for two years after she was born.

“He has his bottle and sleeps through. He’s a little angel.”
