DORSET Fire and Rescue are urging residents who have bonfires to be considerate of neighbours after a number of calls on Thursday night.
A spokesperson for the service said crews were called to ‘a number of incidents’ involving unattended and out of control bonfires. “We would urge members of the public when having a controlled burn to ensure it has been reported to fire control by ringing 01305 753166 and you have informed your neighbours to check your bonfire won’t be a nuisance e.g. wind blowing smoke through open windows, washing out to dry has been brought indoors, etc”, a spokesperson said.
They also asked people to check the bonfire does not pose a risk to a neighbour’s property or to the environment and to ensure the bonfire is always supervised.
