POOLE’S MP joined the leader of the council to visit one of the town’s growing success stories.

Dorset Growth Hub organised the visit to Linsar, which is the number four brand in TV sets of up to 32 inches in the UK as well as making other large domestic appliances.

The purpose of the visit was to see how the company has grown and how the growth hub can help it in the future. Director Barry Kick said: “Linsar was founded in 2006 by myself and Terry Reed.

“We market a range of innovative televisions and large domestic appliances under the Linsar brand to over 700 independent high street retailers, John Lewis and commercial customers. British Inspiration with global innovation is our core value and we have some exciting developments both for the UK and export.”

Mr Kick has worked in the industry since he was 16 but gained a degree in biology at university.

He started Linsar following redundancy from the now defunct French TV brand Thomson.

Lucy Cooper, manager of Dorset Growth Hub, said: “The Dorset Growth Hub are proud to be working with such an innovative successful company and look forward to being part of their future development.”

Borough of Poole leader Cllr Elaine Atkinson said: “It is fantastic to find such hidden jewels in Poole – small businesses and new business start-ups thriving and growing in our local economy and creating quality jobs for local people.”

Mr Syms added: “It is great to see such a local success”.

Dorset Growth Hub was launched earlier this year with a brief to help recovery and boost jobs. It has been allocated government money to offer grants for businesses with the potential to create employment.
