POLICE have appealed for witnesses to a disturbance involving two men, three women and two children.

A 35-year-old woman was allegedly pushed over and her mobile phone stolen from her car during the incident in a car park off Bridge Street in Christchurch on Friday June 6 at 1.30pm. She suffered minor grazes to her arms and legs.

Those involved are believed to be known to each other and were gathered round a red Skoda car when an argument broke out.

DC Sara Johnson, of Bournemouth CID, said: “I believe there were several bystanders around at the time who witnessed the events that occurred in the car park – I urge them to come forward.

"I am keen to speak with anyone who has information that can help us determine exactly what happened. All calls are treated with the strictest confidence.”

A 41-year-old man from Christchurch was arrested on suspicion of assault and theft and has been released on police bail until the end of July pending further enquiries.

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101, quoting incident number 6:222 or the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
