CHRISTCHURCH Lions are supporting a cyclist in his fundraising bid to ride 900miles.
David Canty will set-off on the John O’Groats to Christchurch ride to raise money for the Macmillan Unit at Christchurch Hospital on June 19.
Run by Macmillan Caring Locally, David has chosen to support the unit after his father-in-law received care at the facility two years ago.
David has been training evenings and weekends with 50miles and 100mile bike ride in and around the New Forest.
Thanks to David’s mother-in-law – a member Christchurch Lions Club – the group have invited his to use their car boot sales for publicity.
The club have also made a sponsorship donation.
Lions President Howard Knight said: “When we heard about David’s challenge from Linda, we were in awe of what he was proposing to do, all on his own, for such a good cause and wanted to do as much as we could to help him.
“We have agreed to donate funds but ideally we’d like everyone in the Christchurch area to get behind him and offer their support by logging on to justgiving.com/JOGDOR and making a donation. Alternatively, see him at our car boot sale on Sunday June 8.”
