A WOMAN is fighting for her life after a crash in Poole on Saturday night.

As reported by the Daily Echo last night, the A349 Broadstone Way was blocked off at both ends after the 9pm collision and police, fire and ambulance crews were sent to the scene.

A police spokesman said that the accident happened at the junction of Beechbank Avenue between two cars.

It involved a blue Vauxhall Astra, registered to a Wimborne man, and a silver Honda Civic, registered to a Broadstone woman.

The fire service said that they were called to cut two women in the Civic out of the car.

Both were taken to Poole Hospital and one of them, a 70-year-old, is now in a life-threatening condition, police said overnight.

The road was closed for hours while crash investigators examined the scene.

Not another one, there are a lot of accidents there. Maybe a mini roundabout would be better?

I wonder if the 70 yr old woman was the driver, it doesn't say.

firstly i was sad to read this. However, i dont feel traffic lights at this junction or a roundabout is the answer as it would only increase traffic through creekmoor from the upton bypass and cause more issues with traffic volume and speed.... and result in longer queues at this already busy junction. i am jot sure what the answer is as to decrease the speed on the broadstone way could cause issues as lets face it the limit is 50mph and people overtake at higher speeds on the hatchings when people turn left onto beachbank ave. Maybe the answer is to block the cut tthroughat the bottom of pinesprings drive to stop the volume of traffic turning onto the broadstone way.A suggestion that is all

An elderly couple were killed at this junction about 2 years ago. Two weeks ago there would have been a fatality at the crossing by Sandford Way, if the cyclist hadn't been wearing a helmet. In my opinion the speed limit needs lowering on Broadstone Way.

And in my opinion people should drive with care and consideration to other road users.

Whilst I acknowledge that the yoof of today and careless drivers are also responsible for road accidents, it does *seem* that a lot of accidents recently have involved those in later life.

Re-take the driving test at 65. Less road accidents, more money for the government. The roads have changed a lot since the 1950's, if cars have to be MOT'ed regularly, why not MOT the people who control the **** thing.
