Updated 12:44pm Tuesday 20th May 2014 in News
A YELLOW warning for rain has been issued for Bournemouth, Poole and Dorset on Thursday.
The Met Office said the warning would be in place from 3am-7pm on Thursday.
A spokesperson said: "A band of heavy rain is expected to move north across southwestern parts of the UK on Thursday morning.
"Scattered heavy showers with the risk of some thundery downpours are likely to follow to similar areas during the afternoon.
"The public should be aware of the risk of surface water flooding."
The chief forecaster added: "An active frontal zone is expected to move north into southern England during the early hours of Thursday, continuing into parts of Wales and the Midlands during the day.
"This brings the threat of some heavy rain for a time with embedded convection within the frontal band.
"To the rear of the front scattered thundery showers are likely to develop bringing some localised downpours during the afternoon. Totals of more than 40 mm are likely in places.
"The areas most at risk of heavy rain remain open to some uncertainty and this warning will be updated on Wednesday."
The wet weather comes after a glorious weekend with thousands flocking to Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch to enjoy the sunshine.
