PEOPLE in West Howe are being urged to tune up their singing voices ready for the area’s first ever pantomime.

Those behind the project are looking for actors, singers and dancers to take part in workshops to see if they would like to perform in the show at Christmas.

During the workshops the group will develop the script for the panto – the name of which has not yet been revealed.

The workshops are on Thursday, May 29, for those aged 18 and over, between 12.30pm and 7pm. Then, on Friday, May 30 and Saturday, May 31 there are sessions for 10 to 17-year-olds from 10am to 4pm. Those interested only need to attend one workshop.

Martha Searle, West Howe neighbourhood worker, said: “We are so excited about the panto and have been doing preliminary planning since January.

“The idea behind these workshops is to give anyone who fancies a go at acting, singing or dancing the opportunity to have some basic training and see if they enjoy it before committing to taking part in the panto.” All workshops will be held at the Henry Brown Youth Centre in Cunningham Crescent.

Participants will be charged £1 to contribute towards the project and should bring a packed lunch.

There are 30 places on each workshop.
