A MAN was airlifted to hospital this afternoon after sustaining an injury while windsurfing in Poole harbour.
The coastguard said it was called after two men got into difficulty on the south side of Brownsea Island.
One of the men managed to wave down a passing passenger ferry for help and Poole RNLI launched a lifeboat to assist the helicopter crew with the casualty, who had suffered a dislocated knee.
A spokesperson for the coastguard said: “He was airlifted to Poole landing site at Whitecliff and met by South West Ambulance.”
