FAMILIES will be able to enjoy an Easter eggs-travaganza this weekend, with plenty of themed events and good weather.

Rabbits, ducks and even a robotic velociraptor will be making an appearance over the four-day weekend, ensuring plenty of Easter fun for children.

• And the weekend will also see grown-ups enjoy the fifth annual Big Bournemouth Beer Festival at the BIC, which will be officially opened by Cherries favourite Steve Fletcher on Good Friday.

• There will be family entertainment at West Field in Poole Park between 10.30an and 5pm every day, including performances from Dolphin Marching Band, majorettes and local youth bands.

Poole Museum will host a free Easter trail, where children will receive a chocolate prize if they find the Easter chicks hidden throughout the collection.

• Good Friday will also be the first day of Boscombe's Easter Adventure. This event, organised by the Coastal BID, Creative Kids, Sovereign Shopping Centre and local businesses, will have an Alice in Wonderland theme and will start with a food festival in the Sovereign Centre and an invitation to find the 'White Wabbit in participating shops' windows.

• The Wareham Easter Beerex on Good Friday will begin with real fine ales from across the country available to try as well as wines, ciders and soft drinks. The event will continue on Saturday and tickets are available on the door or in advance from Discover Purbeck Information Centre.

• Nearby, the Tank Museum in Bovington will be putting on World War One themed family activities until Monday from 10am-5pm.

• At the Priest’s House Museum, Buster Bunny’s Big Easter Activities will be taking place until Sunday with crafts from 10am-4.30pm.

• Families off to Corfe Castle can take part in an Easter Egg trail around the historic site.

• At Monkey World near Wareham, an ‘Easter Extravaganza’ will be held from Good Friday until Easter Monday with tasty treats offered to youngsters visiting the attraction. The first 1,000 children to enter the park will receive a free chocolate Easter egg.

• The entertainment will continue on Easter Saturday with a family fun day in Boscombe Chine Gardens, which will include a nature trail quiz, dog show, live music and children's rides, and an Easter arts workshop in the community shop in the Sovereign Centre. The event will conclude with a Mad Hatter's tea party in the precinct between 11am and 4pm on Easter Sunday.

• Saturday will also see hundreds of Mexican students involved in a cultural and tourism show at the BIC, which is open to the public. The students are in Bournemouth for the EF Interqultural Festival and will also be taking part in a dancing competition at the BIC on Sunday and entertaining passers-by at the Pier Approach at lunchtime on both days.

• Hundreds of plastic ducks will race down the Bourne Stream through the Gardens from 2pm on Saturday afternoon to raise money for the Mayor of Bournemouth's charity appeal. Spectators can back a duck for just £1 and tickets can be bought on the day.

• Shoppers at Castlepoint will be able to get up close and personal with Velma the Velociraptor, who is visiting from Marwell Zoo on Saturday. She will be making appearances at 11.30am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm and 2.30pm.

• And there will be live music, a chick petting area, craft workshops and face painting at the Furlong Shopping Centre in Ringwood on Saturday

• A Buskers' Bash for Cash event will be held in Wimborne Square on Saturday as well.

• If you fancy a boat trip, there are a variety of activities on offer at Brownsea Island including an Easter trail.

• And at Highcliffe Castle, youngsters can find the chicks hidden in the Castle grounds to win a chocolate prize. It will take place from 11am-4pm daily for £1 per trail.

• On Easter Sunday, a group of people will gather on Swanage beach to celebrate Easter Sunrise from 5.30am.

Classic Cars will also be shown off at West Overcliffe Promenade behind the BIC on Sunday with around 70 cars on display.

The Easter weekend will be dry and relatively fine, with Good Friday looking the pick of the bunch.

The Met Office is predicting a sunny Good Friday with temperatures of up to 12 degrees Celsius, while Easter Saturday will also be dry but with more cloud.

Easter Sunday and Monday are set to be wet, with Monday faring slightly better with the rain drying up in the afternoon.
