AN ELECTRONICS manufacturer has completed the takeover of another firm in its sector after a process lasting around a year.

Ferndown-based Electronics Technicians Limited (ETL) has completed the acquisition of Eagle Techniques Ltd, a specialist electronics design and manufacture company which was located in Verwood.

ETL, which began the acquisition in 2013, says the two businesses provide complementary services.

ETL offers electronics circuit board assembly and production services to customers in the electronics sector across the UK, Europe and beyond.

Eagle Techniques specialises in product design and build services, typically aimed at organisations outside the sector that need electronics as part of a larger product development programme.

Eagle Techniques’ staff of five has relocated to ETL’s 12,000sqft premises in Cobham Road on the Ferndown Industrial Estate. The business is now a wholly owned subsidiary of ETL, operating as a division headed by Eagle co-founder Peter Lewington, and its team are already collaborating on ETL customer projects.

Sales director James Arnold said: “Eagle Techniques approached us last year, recognising that our business would be an excellent complementary fit for its specialist original equipment manufacturer (OEM) services.

“We liked the idea of expanding our own offer to customers to include bespoke electronic design, as well as a focused OEM service, so we began the acquisition in late spring 2013 and have now completed the process.

“It’s a great outcome for everyone. Now our customers can enjoy a broader service.

Eagle’s OEM product range includes thermostatic controls for marine and road transport heaters, control systems for non-domestic disability hoists and sophisticated controllers for automated room partitioning systems.

Eagle Techniques has been operating for almost 30 years, while ETL celebrates its 30 anniversary this year.
