Car crashes into Kwong's Chinese takeaway in Holdenhurst Road

Bournemouth Echo: Car crashes into front of Chinese takeaway in Bournemouth Car crashes into front of Chinese takeaway in Bournemouth

A car has crashed into the front of a Chinese takeaway in Bournemouth this morning.

Emergency services are on the scene of the incident in Holdenhurst Road, near the Tesco store.

Police were called just after 8am after the black Vauxhall Corsa crashed into the shop front of Kwongs Chinese restaurant.

The car is registered to a Bournemouth woman and there are not believed to be any injuries.

Flavia Balbo, who runs the Beauty Queen salon next door and lives above, said: "I've not seen an accident since I've been here but people struggle to turn out of there and often hit the pavement.

"Sometimes they look like they're going to come in the shop.

"People aren't able to see very well and lots of people go over the pavement to turn out.

"It's quite dangerous here I think.

"I feel so bad or them (next door)."

Police have appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to contact them in confidence on 101.

If you had lived here before the traffic calming measure were implemented you would have seen no problems.

Any comments from our Cabinet member for highways welcomed as it is his ward .

I know accidents happen and there for the grace of God etc. but this is on a road which at that time of the morning you're lucky to be doing 20mph, let alone the 30 limit.

You also have a lampost, kerb, bright yellow shop front, seemingly clear visibility ( it was in town this morning anyway) and broad daylight.

How on earth this one happened is beyond me.

We should just be thankful there were no schoolkids or OAP's in the way.
