THESE two-seater leisure vehicles are already turning heads in Poole, according to the company that is selling them alongside personal watercraft.

The Can-Am side-by-side vehicles, from BRP, arrived recently in the showroom at Offshore Performance in Poole.

Offshore Performance, part of Salterns Marina, is the south coast’s number one dealer of Sea-Doo personal watercraft.

Emily Greenslade, manager of Offshore Performance, said: “The demand for side-by-side vehicles has increased with customers requesting them for a variety of leisure activities, including towing personal watercraft down to the beach, country pursuits such as shooting and hunting, recreational sports and even for holidaymakers who wish to zip around the town.”

The range includes the Can-Am Commander XT and the Can-Am Maverick XXC and retails from £13,000 and £20,000.

James Sydenham, general manager with Salterns Marnia, said: “It’s fully street legal so you can drive it on the road.”

He said the 101hp engine had a top speed above 70mph and an “amazing off-road capability”.

“You can use it on the road as a day-to-day sports utility vehicle for having a bit of fun on the road in the summer, through to serious off-road use,” he said. “It’s like a motocross bike on steroids.”

The vehicles attracted a lot of attention at a recent Sunseeker open weekend.

Although it is initially specialising in Can-Am side-by-side vehicles, Offshore Performances will also be offering sales and service for Can-Am all-terrain vehicles.

Salterns Marina, which bought Offshore Performance 12 years ago, is a group of businesses including Salterns Marina, Salterns Brokerage, Salterns Boatyard and Golden Arrow Marine.

It employs 100 people.
