JURORS are this morning heading to the scene where a Southampton dad was found beaten to death.
They will be shown the spot where newly appointed Saints groundsman Kevin Wyeth was discovered by paramedics in an alleyway in Woolston last August.
The man accused of his murder, Damon Wright, will join jurors, barristers and Judge Guy Boney QC as they familiarise themselves with the areas that the prosecution say are vital to the case.
As previously reported, the trial of the 32-year-old started yesterday at Winchester Crown Court, with the prosecution opening its case against the cage fighter.
Nicholas Haggan QC told jurors that Kevin, the ex-partner of Wright's girlfriend, was punched with such “severe force” that his face was shattered and left him with “significant brain damage”.
Wright, from Poole, denies murder, telling police in interview that he acted in self-defence.
But the prosecution claim that as Kevin was found with his flies open, indicating that he was urinating at the time he was attacked, he was “more or less defenceless”.
The trial will resume at Winchester this afternoon after the visit.
The case continues.
