ONE lane of Blandford Road is set to be reopened to traffic on Monday, following the completion of sewerage works.

Wessex Water said that staff have worked hard to repair a section of a sewer on the main busy road through Poole, between Turlin Road and Allens Lane, after it burst on Sunday, February 2. It is now back in operation.

This means, says a spokesperson, that they aim to have the road re-opened to northbound traffic by 7am on Monday morning, after the temporary gas main diversions were removed.

She added: “Staff will continue to work 24 hours-a-day to complete the resurfacing work and remove equipment.

“We would like to thank people for their ongoing patience during this emergency work.”

Meanwhile, southbound traffic must still use the diversion route while the other side of the road is resurfaced.

Hamworthy residents have previously spoken of the side-roads off Blandford Road being gridlocked due to queues of cars, vans and motorcycles being diverted due to the works.
