WITH just over a week to go before a new food waste collection service starts in Bournemouth, residents are being urged to get in touch if they have any questions.

The new food waste collections start on March 3 and containers, information leaflets and compostable liners have been delivered to residents.

Now the council is concentrating on answering any last-minute queries residents may have.

A special Twitter question and answer session was held on Wednesday and a second session will be held on Facebook next Tuesday, from 7pm until 8pm.

There is also a question and answer page online at bournemouth.gov.uk/foodwaste or residents can call 01202 451199.

Waste awareness officers will also be answering questions at drop-in sessions at Castlepoint Library between 10am and 1pm this Saturday and at Tuckton Library between 10.30am and 12.30pm on Thursday, February 27.

They will also be at Boscombe Market between 10am and 4pm on Saturday, March 1.

Georgina Fry, waste and resource projects manager for Bournemouth council, said: “We’re keen to help people use the new containers correctly and with any worries they have about the new service.

“We’ve already posted a lot of updates and answered lots of questions by social media.

“Given the response we’ve had, we thought it would be a good idea to have dedicated times for people to ask for any information that they need in advance of the collections starting on March 3.”
