Routine inspection of “Welcome to Bournemouth” sign reveals no problems

First published in News

A ROUTINE inspection of the Welcome to Bournemouth sign on the A338 Spur Road revealed no problems, Bournemouth council has confirmed.

A section of the Spur Road was reduced to one lane in both directions on Monday evening, as council engineers carried out a maintenance inspection.

The inspection started at 7pm and was finished by 12.30am. A Bournemouth council spokesman said that the inspection was simply to check everything was in order following the sign’s installation last August.

The Council are saying that there is no problems with it !!
.
I would say that one big problem with it is that it is a complete waste of taxpayers money, needless, and should not have been erected in the first place.
.
Perhaps the Council should extend the sign to read "Welcome to Bournemouth, free parking for all travellers"

Council report that Meyrick Park is still there

A council spokesman reported that despite the fierce gales the park is still there and has not been blown away.

The spokesman did add that a number of clouds have broken lose and it would be carrying out a feasibility study as to the best method of tethering them down - meanwhile people are urged not to approach them until they are secured.

Of course there is a problem, the blooming sign is still there, at a waste of money to everyone, with no meaningful affect to those travelling to and from Bournemouth. Why cant we have something iconic, like the Angel of the North (Up north), The Spinnaker Tower (Portsmouth), Revolving Tour (Weymouth). (Now watch the ideas flow on this). What do we have, a sign that welcomes us to Chavtown
