Witness appeal after man grabbed by the throat during attempted robbery in Boscombe

First published in News by

A MAN was grabbed by the throat during an alleged attempted robbery in Boscombe precinct last week.

The 30-year-old victim, from Bournemouth, was outside Sainsbury’s store between 8pm and 8.45pm on Wednesday, January 15, when he was allegedly threatened by another man who demanded cash off him, and grabbed his neck when he refused.

He was not harmed in the incident.

The offender was described as a white man, five feet four inches tall, clean shaven with blisters on his lips. He was wearing a light blue T-shirt, dark black jeans and a black coat.

Detective Constable Stefanie Belton, of Bournemouth CID, said: “It appears likely that the described man approached several members of the public who may have witnessed this incident.”

A 32-year-old man of no fixed abode has been arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery and released on bail pending further enquiries.

Contact Dorset Police with information in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 15:378, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

The time has now come to arm the police with a Naplam weapon rather like the U.S. forces used in Vietnam i.e. two tanks of liquid petroleum carried on the back with a nozzle at the front. These people could be disposed of immediately.
.
Somehow I suppose this initiative will attract liitle creedence as far as fighting crime is concerned.

I think it's great that they are let out on bail for an alleged serious offence.

Yea call back in a few weeks (if you want to) while we eventually ask a few more questions out there then we might charge you......if we can find you.

It would take a couple of hours for the Police to establish if he could be charged while he is in custody. No chance of swift justice.

Lots of people FROM the local area are homeless. Where do we send them?

As for sending people 'back' to places?... I'd send you back to school, for basic English Grammar & punctuation.

As I said. Perhaps those who operate the extensive CCTV system in Boscombe & other areas, should be on the ball doing what they are paid for?

This really doesn't sound like a mugging! What mugger just grabs someone by the throat then leaves when the victim says no? He was either being teased by a drunken idiot of had some other altercation which he backed down from when he was grabbed.

It is so boring reading the comments of people moaning about Boscombe without having any constructive ideas on how to solve the problems. Please, if you cant string a sentence together do not bother to comment. I am still thinking about ideas to solve the Boscombe issues. More help for the homeless is desperately needed as most have serious mental health problems. Can people please keep their ridiculous comments to themselves, it does nothing to improve Boscombe and only serves to harm. If any of you have two brain cells to rub together give it a go and come up with something useful.

i think you need to take back your rose tinted spectacles back to Specsavers, cllr Kelly.

It's all vey well having meeting like 'Atlas' but the reality is that your party has cut the officers numbers. The response crews were moved from Boscombe to Bournemouth CPS and you have PCSO's standing around a van outside Macdonalds on Thursday and Saturday while outside Savers store a market trader is being racially abused. It is shameful.

It's all talk and no action and no wonder the area is failing. The amount of money, Boscombe has had through central government the area should be better than this.I would imagine other neighbourhoods in Bournemouth would relish the money that Boscombe West has had thrown at it over the years. But all it has done is further peoples careers who have moved onto better salaries and forgot the place. You know who you are.

Now, a Tardis is being planned and your looking for local businesses to fund it through sponsorship.

With benefit cuts to some people, prison is an occupational hazard and in some cases a welcome relief from the misery outside. No topping up of rent because the rental is outside the LHA. In a damp infested property with windows that do not close and wearing your hat, gloves, coat and scarf to keep warm. While heating the place on halogen heaters while the pound coin meter eats away the coin like a piranha. And for those who don't claim benefits and there is a group that do not then what better than to take a chance and rob someone with the potential of being identified and being rewarded with prison.
hurts
In fact one female who commits offences admits that prison is the quickest route for detoxification and on her release she recieves £200 cash and a subsistence allowance.Think this was a one off then think again.I look forward to the thumbs down because the truth always .

Sounds like a case of short man syndrome aggression and the the other guy's saying he demanded cash so the Police take him more seriously. . This really doesn't sound like a mugging! What mugger just grabs someone by the throat then leaves when the victim says no? He was either being teased by a drunken idiot of had some other altercation which he backed down from when he was grabbed.[/p]
Your assuming the victim was 6`4" and weighed 18 stone.but I suspect the nasty little sod picked on a particular bloke because he looked vulnerable and much like he,s other victims.you will hear even more sirens if ever he gets it wrong, those of the ambulance[/p]
I agree he doesn't sound like a nice bloke but I don't believe it was an attempted robbery.[/p]
Also at 5'4'' I would probably let my Gran deal with it. Come on that's petite even for a woman[/p]
Benny Hill would have known what to do - just put your hand on his head and let him swing away with no chance of him reaching. I've seen him do it many times, (although unlike this chap the one he deals with is usually bald and wears glasses) scrumpyjack

£200 cash on release?
What utter rubbish.
You get £46. That's it. Nothing else.

I suggest the female in question has been talking rubbish with regards to her release money & subsistence allowance.

Fair comment boscombe has got its problems and there has been tragic and needless loss of life, but there are far far worse places in this country in which to live.My nan rest her soul would not allow herself to be a victim, she was glassed in the face in a pub standing up to some hero who was in the process of slapping his wife about, she nearly lost an eye because of it, and till the day she died I know that she would of stood in front of this bully again. There are people in this world who care for nobody Ive known some and believe me pure nasty is walking the streets but I don't think some wet brained mug is what you need to be a feared of.

I feel safer in NYC.....

....than I do in Boscombe.

Perhaps Dorset Police need to be given 'stop and frisk' authority in Boscombe, until this area is reclaimed for decent folk who want to live their in peace.

Stop and frisk made the worst parts of NYC safe. I highly recommend it.
