ALL residents at Iford Bridge Home Park have now been allowed to return to their homes.

Residents were evacuated for the second time since Christmas last Thursday after a severe flood warning was issued for the site.

The severe flood warning has now been lifted and some of the residents returned to their homes on Wednesday.

Bournemouth council is offering support to those whose homes are too badly damaged.

A hardship fund has also been set up by Iford Baptist Church, which was being used as a refuge while people were out of their homes.

Flood warnings are still in place for the Lower Avon at The Bridges and Stubbings Meadow in Ringwood, Middle Avon at Fordingbridge,  Lower Avon from Ringwood to Christchurch, Middle Avon from Salisbury to Ringwood, Lower Stour from Sturminster Marshall to Christchurch, Lower Frome from Dorchester to East Stoke and the Lower Frome from East Stoke to Wareham.

Some residents are being prepared for the risk of groundwater flooding over the coming weeks.

The Dorset recovery working group, led by Dorset County Council, will work with communities in affected areas to help them get ready for the floods which are expected to hit in the next few days.

The areas most at risk from this type of flooding include Winterbourne Abbas, Milborne St Andrew, Sixpenny Handley, Cranborne Chase and parts of North Dorset.

Stony Lane in Christchurch and the Avon Causeway were closed on Monday due to flooding and are both yet to reopen. Stapehill Road in Ferndown is also still closed.

There are currently no weather warnings for rain or wind but a warning for ice has been issued by the Met Office for Dorset,

The warning, which is valid from 9pm tonight until 10am on Saturday, reads: "Surface temperatures will fall to around or just below freezing later on Friday evening over parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland and during Friday night across parts of England and Wales. With a lot of standing water present in many areas from the recent wet weather and flooding icy stretches are expected to form, particularly on untreated surfaces."
