THE man who died in New Milton yesterday after a horrific collision with a BT van has been named as William Hall.

Police confirmed Mr Hall, 84, of New Milton, was pronounced dead at the scene on Spencer Road following the collision shortly before 10.30am.

Hampshire Constabulary is appealing for witnesses.

A spokesman for the force said: “A Vauxhall Vivaro van was involved in a collision with an 84-year-old man on Spencer Road at the junction with Ashley Road.

“Sadly the pedestrian, William Hall who was from New Milton, was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Road closures were put into place for a number of hours to allow crash scene investigators to work at the scene.”

Any witnesses have been urged to contact PC Neville Johnson at the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Eastleigh police station on 101 quoting Operation Cherchell.
