THERE may not have been wall-to-wall sunshine but there was certainly no shortage of events in Dorset at the weekend!

Helmets, hotpants and an inflatable dinosaur - it could only be the dino-themed roller derby! The Dorset Roller Girls hosted Plymouth City Roller Girls and two other teams in what turned out to be a nail biting four-hour extravaganza.

Over at The Orchard Nursery in Kinson, youngsters enjoyed games and rides, a bouncy castle and barbecue at a fundraising fun day for the charity Megan’s Smile.

The Sandbanks Beach Volleyball Festival, the largest Junior Beach Volleyball Festival in the UK, saw young people competing for the prestigious British Volleyball Champion titles.

While Poole's oldest woman, Eve Ward, celebrated her 107th birthday!

Hundreds of people flocked to Queen's Park Academy's first ever country fair, which featured a birds of prey display, farmer's market, pony rides arena and a small animal cuddle corner.

Nearly 800 people got in the saddle and took to the county's roads to raise money for charity in the 26th annual Macmillan Dorset Bike Ride
