A POLICE search for a missing man thought to be in Dorset has now moved further west after a possible sighting.

There are concerns for Ashley Bessant who went missing after he failed to turn up for work and has not been seen since yesterday morning.

Ashley comes from Dibden Purlieu, a community on the edge of the New Forest.

The 28-year-old, who lives with his parents, has not been seen since he left for work and police say they are concerned for his welfare.

The welder, who works locally, never arrived for work and his anxious family have joined in the search for him.

Information suggested that the Saints season ticket holder may be in the Dorset and Weymouth areas and Dorset Police are helping with efforts to locate Ashley. Latest information is that he could be heading to Newquay in Cornwall and there has been a possible sighting in Devon.

He could be driving a black Ford Fiesta.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to get in contact.

They are conducting inquiries and officers in Dorset are conducting a physical search.

Ashley's brother and father are joining in the physical search in Dorset.

Ashley is described as white, of medium to slim build, 5ft 11in tall with brown eyes and dark brown cropped hair.

The last time he was seen he was wearing black tracksuit bottoms with a white trim and a red Austrian football shirt with a zip up grey top.

Sgt Chris Taylor of Hythe Police Station, said: “We're concerned for Ashley's welfare.

“This is out of character and his family are also very worried.

“He's done nothing wrong and just needs to contact Hampshire or Dorset Police on 101 and let us know he is okay.”

Anyone with information can call Sgt Taylor on 101.
