A £60M scheme to build two new Hilton Hotels in Bournemouth is set to create 130 new jobs in the town.

The two hotels will offer a total of 300 bedrooms, along with a Sky Bar and around 70 residential apartments.

The scheme is the largest hotel development for 100 years and will hopefully give the town a sought-after five-star hotel, along with a three-star establishment.

Jesse Banovic, marketing spokesman for the That Group, which is spearheading the development, said: “We anticipate the hotels will employ in excess of 130 full-time equivalents and the town will get a huge boost from the supply chain needed to serve two large hotels.

“It should provide a very large boost to the conference industry in Bournemouth.

“It’s hoped that this hotel, along with other developments, will give the BIC additional firepower to attract high quality conference business.

“And the hotels could play a vital role in helping to retain graduates in hospitality and tourism by providing more management opportunities.”

Peter Tisdale, also of the That Group, said: “I think Hilton were impressed by Bournemouth’s year-round, seven-day-a-week market. To do 300 rooms in one town outside of one of the big cities – that speaks volumes as to the enthusiasm that there is for this development.

“There’s also a feeling that the council shares the desire to improve and enhance the hospitality offering. There appears to be a real shared vision for the town.”
