BOURNEMOUTH Borough Council is backing a national campaign to mark Fostering Fornight.

Guess Who Fosters? aims to show that all kinds of people from across the UK can foster a child.

Councillor Nicola Greene, Cabinet Member for Education and Children’s Services, said: “There isn’t a set criteria for a foster carer in terms of what they look like, what they wear or where they live and that’s the point we’re trying to make as part of Fostering Fortnight.

“Foster carers play a really important role in the community and we want to break down the barriers and misconceptions of who can foster and encourage local people to come forward and find out how they can be involved in fostering. Most people can apply to foster, whether they’re a couple, a family, in a same sex relationship or single. ”

Bournemouth’s fostering team will be available outside Marks and Spencer at Castlepoint Shopping Centre on Tuesday, May 20 between 9.30am and 4.30 pm to give people a chance to find out about fostering.
