DORSET Police have moved to reassure the public after a spate of robberies at shops across the conurbation in recent weeks.

Coral at Castle Lane West, Bournemouth, was hit yesterday, while police detectives believe that the same man was responsible for a raid at Ladbrokes in Christchurch Road on Wednesday.

Detective Chief Inspector Jez Noyce, of Bournemouth and Poole CID said: “Lately there have been six robberies, three at bookmakers and three at convenience stores, which have occurred in the Bournemouth and Wimborne areas.

“These crimes are all being investigated individually and I would like to reassure the public that investigating these crimes is a priority for Dorset Police – with two men already being charged separately for two of those offences.

“We have received many calls in response to our witness and information appeals and gained a lot of information.

“I would like to thank the public and media for their help and I encourage the public to continue to come forward either by phoning the police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 in confidence.

“Despite this recent spate of criminal activity I stress that these types of robberies are not usual for Dorset.

“It is believed that the latest two crimes may be linked and leads are being followed up to help us identify the offender.

“Perpetrators arrested will be dealt with robustly and anyone convicted of such a crime is likely to face a very lengthy prison sentence.

“All shop staff are asked to be vigilant for anyone acting suspiciously and to ensure safety features – such as CCTV – are in working order.

“Anyone requiring additional advice should contact their Safer Neighbourhood Team, who will be happy to assist.”

It will be more of a case of " Leave him alone he comes from a broken home" syndrome. Or he or she will be given a caution and released or sent for some pointless councilling.

Gosh, suddenly I feel soooooo much more secure! Not.

Perhaps Mr Underpants could put more officers on the street rather than keep shrinking the public presence of the force? The Turdis in Boscombe doesn't fool anyone, and clearly has achieved nothing!

No doubt the Police will be greatly assisted in the their efforts to reassure us all by the local newspaper, who will NOT in future be reporting every detail, rumour and allegation related to any real or imagined crime that may or may not be happening in the area.

Then again - it is their job!

If they ever end up before Wiggs They'll probably get 2 weeks at Butlin's.
.
There's nothing reassuring from the Police or justice system these days.

Did the deluded Jez shout this reassurance out the window of a BMW before zooming off to arrest some poor sod for using his phone to check if his wife had been threatened by some scrum bag in a hoody.cut the PR and get some more coppers in the town to protect the good hard working people that presume are in your care

I don't believe that any of us accept that crime is falling as the politicians would have us believe, murders recently must be at an all time high in this area as is violent crime. You get what you pay for in this world and if you keep cutting funding for the police and reducing their numbers - what else do you expect. We know too now that a substantial under reporting of crime is not shewn in the "stats" 25 - 30% I understand., instead of politicians getting involved with running the police, we need more officers.Scrap Police Commissioners and their staff and use the money to put more bodies on the beat!!

I won't feel fully reassured until there's a Tardis on every street corner. It's blatantly obvious to anybody with two or more brain cells that the single Tardis in Boscombe is completely inadequate for a conurbation of this size. Oh, but look at the time, sorry folks, must dash to the bottom of the garden for my daily chat with the pixies. But at least I know I'll get more sense out of them than I get from the criminal legal system in England and Wales.
