THE new-look Boscombe Crescent has been officially unveiled following its long-awaited makeover.

Mayor of Bournemouth Cllr Rodney Cooper cut the ribbon at the revamped public open space.

The Crescent, which is at the heart of one of the most deprived areas in the south west region, has benefitted from a raft of improvements as part of the Backing Boscombe campaign.

A total of £125,000 has been spent on the improvements, which have been carried out in two separate phases.

The area now boasts new crescent-shaped paths, seating bays for benches, a separate pathway from Walpole Road to Christchurch Road, a new planting bed, additional railings, a paved area for pop-up kiosks and events and a permanent Christmas tree socket. The council’s parks team have planted the new areas and created a direct path to the newly positioned bus stop.

Cllr Jane Kelly, cabinet member for partnerships and regeneration, said: “I am so pleased that improvements at Boscombe Crescent have been completed.

“The space is more inviting – a place families can enjoy.

“It is a really important focal point in Boscombe; both as a first impression to the area and as an opportunity to show how investment and care can start to bring about a positive change. The council, as part of the Backing Boscombe project, has taken time to work with local residents through a variety of consultations.”
