SECURITY staff with dogs turned away a number of suspected travellers’ vehicles from King’s Park yesterday afternoon.
Bournemouth Parks’ ‘lockdown’ on public spaces and council car parks has been re- imposed for the weekend after the authority received information that local sites might be targeted.
Council leader John Beesley said the operation, involving Insight Security, was routine and dealt with appropriately.
“It is only when people cross from the highway on to council-owned land that our people become involved, but we turn away vehicles before that happens,” he said.
He said the lockdown process was “more often than not successful”.
