“IMMEDIATE improvement” is needed at a Bournemouth care home, a Care Quality Commission (CQC) report has revealed.

New clients will not be accepted at Windsor Court Nursing Home until changes are made after a damning inspection of the Bodorgan Road property.

The unannounced assessment – which took place over two days in February this year – found that provider Lyndale Health Care Limited is “failing to meet the two national standards reviewed”.

Among inspectors’ concerns were that people who used the service were not receiving safe and consistent care, as records showed that care plans were not being followed and not all care plans were being completed.

Pressure sores, inadequate care planning and inappropriate systems to identify, assess and manage the risks relating to the welfare of users were also evident, they said.

Adrian Hughes, CQC’s deputy chief inspector for adult social care (South region) said: “This shortfall in standards at Windsor Court Nursing Home is unacceptable.

“We have told the provider very clearly where improvements must be made and are considering the need for any further regulatory action on our part. We have received an undertaking from Lyndale Health Care Limited that it will not admit any new clients who require nursing care while these improvements are being addressed.

“We continue to work closely with local agencies and will continue to monitor the service closely and will not hesitate to take further regulatory action to ensure people receive the care and support they are entitled to expect.”

Mr Hughes added: “If anyone has concerns about this or any other registered service, please do not hesitate to contact us.”
