RESIDENTS of a quiet Poole road were left in shock after the body of a woman was discovered in a house.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the address in Cooke Road at around 9am on Easter Sunday.

The body, believed to be a local woman in her 40s, was removed while forensics teams examined the house and surrounding area.

However, after speaking with neighbours and an unnamed local man, police concluded that there were no suspicious circum-stances to the death.

The woman’s next of kin have been informed about her death.

Yesterday, neighbour Clive Allison, 38, said he and his family were planning to lay flowers at the house, which was surrounded by police cars and vans, an ambulance and a paramedic car until around 12.30pm on Sunday.

“There were lots of police cars all up and down the road, it’s not the sort of thing you want to wake up to on Easter morning,” he said.

“We had only spoken to the couple who live there the day before. We say ‘hi’ and see them coming and going but don’t know them very well.

“Our thoughts go out to the lady’s family.”

He said the morning drama was unusual in what is a generally peaceful area.

“Everyone has kids around here and they are always out playing in the gardens and going between people’s houses, it’s very peaceful,” he said.

“I was just organising an Easter egg hunt when I walked out here and saw the police cars, the ambulance, everything.

“It was a real shock to see a body being taken out. The kids don’t know about it.”

Another neighbour, Nina Chard, 27, said she had been asked by police officers if she had heard anything the night before the drama.

“I had to say no, apparently I slept through the ambulance arriving, and the first thing I heard of it was the police knocking on the door,” she said.

“I have not been living here for very long and have rarely spoken to the couple next door, they kept themselves to themselves.”

The coroner was called to the scene and an inquest is expected to be opened next week.
