A MAN has been arrested after masked raiders threatened a family before making off with jewellery and cash.

Dorset Police were called at around 9.15pm on Friday, January 13 with a report of three masked men forced their way into a property in Ashley Road in Parkstone and threatened the occupants, including young children, with tools.

The offenders are alleged to have taken some high-value Asian jewellery and cash.

Nobody was harmed during the raid, but Detective Sergeant Andy Howarth of Bournemouth CID said that it was a 'very frightening ordeal for the occupants.'

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said that a 33-year-old man from Poole was arrested just before 6.30am this morning on suspicion of aggravated burglary.

He is currently assisting officers with enquiries.
