PICK up a beautiful bargain wedding dress and help sick and injured pets at the same time at the Brides are Back in Boscombe event.

The PDSA charity store at 638 Christchurch Road is reprising its special sale with the remaining stock left from last October, when an anonymous donor handed over 100 wedding and special occasion dresses including bridal gowns, bridesmaid's outfits and prom dresses.

The dresses, many of which were new with the tags still on, and a large number with a recommended retail value of more than £500, attracted massive interest and brought in thousands of pounds in sales, going for between £150 and £250 for wedding gowns, with other dresses fetching £60 to £70.

This year the remaining dresses, along with additional stock from across all of the charity’s stores, can be found at the Boscombe PDSA store for a special event from November 5 to 8, from 9am to 5pm every day.

A spokesman for the charity said: “If you are planning a wedding or looking for an evening dress for that special event – perhaps you’re going on a cruise – we may have that perfect dress to have dinner with the captain.

“We have various sizes, colours and designs, so come along to our event and feel beautiful in Boscombe.”

Funds raised will support the work of the PDSA (People's Dispensary for Sick Animals), which offers free veterinary care to animals belonging to people on housing or council tax benefits, and promotes responsible pet ownership.

One of the charity's hospitals is in Castle Lane West in Bournemouth.
