A TINY pup who disappeared last winter has “miraculously” returned home after six months.

Dolly, a Jack Russell-Chihuahua cross, disappeared from Frobisher Avenue in Wallisdown on February 15.

But she has now finally returned to owner Amanda King after a member of the public saw her running loose in Poole and alerted dog wardens.

Amanda has now urged other dog owners to ensure their pets are microchipped.

“The warden was able to check where Dolly was from straight away because of her chip,” she said.

“He gave me a call to tell me my dog had been found wandering about and could I come and pick her up? It was absolutely amazing to find her after all these months.”

Amanda, who works in palliative nursing, said she still doesn’t know how Dolly managed to vanish from her home, but suspects she may have been stolen.

She added: “After she was found wandering about, the dog wardens spoke to a man who said he bought her from a poultry market in Salisbury.

“I have absolutely no idea what could have happened to her. I just got home from work one day and she wasn’t there. It was awful.”

Dolly – who has been described as a “little character” by Amanda – was seven months old when she disappeared.

Amanda and her family began a desperate search for the dog, but were unable to find out what had become of her.

“People say it’s like a miracle that she’s back home,” Amanda said.

“Everyone at work keeps hugging me. Lots of the people I help care for had put forward money as a reward, which was just so wonderful. It’s been amazing for me to be able to tell people that she’s safely back home.”
