A MAJOR route through Dorset was closed for hours this afternoon after a serious accident.
A car towing a boat was involved in the crash on the A350 Lower Blandford Road and the road was shut in both directions between Foot’s Hill and the A30 Christy’s Lane and B3091 Salisbury Road.
The crash happened near to the Cann bridge turn-off.
A Dorset Police spokesman said that officers were called at 12.05pm and that the car and trailer had ended up on their sides.
No other vehicles were involved and it is not thought that there are any serious injuries, although one person was injured.
Nobody was trapped in the vehicle, said Dorset Fire and Rescue Service, but fire crews were called to help make the scene safe.
Clearing the scene took much of the afternoon due to the nature of the crash.
