PLANNING officers will provide Bournemouth councillors with an update on the multi-million pound Winter Gardens proposals next Monday.

Councillors will be given a summary of the key issues they should focus on when the application comes before the planning board in September.

And they will be given details of the objections and representations the council has received since the major application was lodged.

The plans, submitted by Inland Ltd, seek outline planning consent for approximately 114 flats, a 70-bedroom hotel, a leisure complex, entertainment space and shops. There will also be a 550-space car park.

Planning officer Steve Davies states in his report the main planning considerations are the scale and design of the proposed hotel, the impact on residents of Cranborne Road, the impact of the vehicle onto Exeter Road and Grand Garden Walk and design issues.

The report also states that 11 letters of objection were received by the council during the formal consultation period, along with five letters providing comments. Among those objecting are the Civic Society, the Save Bournemouth Odeon Campaign and DMH Stallard on behalf of local residents and owners.

That Company, which is developing nearby Terrace Mount, has also objected saying it has concerns over the lack of a key leisure anchor and lack of detail.
