WESSEX Water provided the best customer service of all water and sewerage companies during the last year, according to industry regular Ofwat.

The company came out on top of the annual service incentive mechanism, the measure used by Ofwat, for the third year running with a score of 87 out of 100.

Andy Pymer, director of customer and retail services, said: “We are delighted to retain our position as the top performing water and sewerage company for customer service.

“We continuously work hard to exceed customer expectations and on the few occasions where we don’t get it quite right we take necessary steps to learn from these so it doesn’t happen again.

“Our industry-leading position is due to the hard work of staff that regularly go the extra mile for customers.” The company said it was working on a number of initiatives to improve customer service and had spoken to more than 24,000 customers during its business plan consultation to ensure their priorities remained at the heart of future plans.
