AROUND 100 young carers and deserving children attended a Mad Hatter’s summer tea party in Christchurch.

The event was organised in conjunction with Bournemouth Council’s Children’s Services team, Adventure Wonderland, United Taxis and Heart radio station to treat the kids at the start of the summer holidays.

Radio presenters Zoe Hanson and Rich Clarke, along with the Heart Angels, were on hand to welcome the young visitors to the family theme park as they arrived in a convoy of taxis.

Zoe said: “It was a privilege for Heart to team up with local businesses to give those deserving children a great day out and for me to be a part of it all.

“We hope the children and their families enjoyed the day out, which we intended to make a day to remember.”

As well as enjoying food and drink at the fun tea party, the kids also got to use all of the rides at the park for free, get their faces painted and meet all of the characters from Adventure Wonderland.

Christine Edgeley, from Bournemouth Council’s Child-ren’s Services team, said: “Following on from the success of the Wonderland event from the last two years, we were delighted that Heart FM and United Taxis have joined forces again to give the children and young carers of Bournemouth a great day out.”

Derek Heritage, director of United Taxis, said that they were used to taking children to and from school every day, so the company jumped at the chance to give a little back.
