Richard Wilson jailed for 28 months after officers find thousands of indecent images of children on his computer

‘Paedophiles will be brought to justice’ – warning after pervert jailed for 8,553 images of children

THE head of a police unit established to deal with paedophiles using the internet to prey on children has spoken out following another conviction.

Acting Detective Superintendent and Director of Public Protection Chris Naughton, who leads Dorset Police’s Paedophile Online Investigation Team (POLIT), warned offenders they would be “brought to justice” after Richard Wilson was jailed this month.

The 50-year-old, of Fitzpaine Close in West Parley, admitted 16 counts of possessing indecent images of children from category A – the most serious – to C at Bournemouth Crown Court.

Police discovered a total of 8,553 photographs and 246 moving images on his computer, and some of the films had been burned to DVD.

Det Supt Naughton said: “We are using technology to combat offenders who use the internet as a weapon to attack and abuse children. POLIT works closely with similar units both in the UK and abroad to identify and bring to justice those criminals who use cyberspace to sexually exploit children. If you commit these crimes we will find you, arrest you and bring you to justice.

“I also urge those abusing children to seek professional help from either their GP or another professional organisation such as Stop it Now! of the Lucy Faithfull Foundation.”

Judge Samuel Wiggs heard that “several hundred” DVD discs were seized from Wilson’s home when he was arrested by police, and the defendant immediately made “full and frank” admissions to officers. Mitigating, Kevin Hill said that Wilson had “an addiction to pornography, to indecent images”.

The defendant – who neighbours said works for an insurance company in Poole – was sentenced to eight months in prison.

Dorset Police joined up with the National Crime Agency and the Association of Chief Police Officers for a national six-month operation that led to Wilson’s arrest.

More than 660 suspected paedophiles have now been arrested across Britain, with eight in Dorset, including retired teacher Ian Bell, 66, who was charged with 20 offences of making and distributing indecent images of children.

Bell was sentenced to 28 months in prison.

This is the most important fact in the story. This tells me that he was one of the "stupid" ones. If you actually wanted to keep your downloading habits secret you would store material exclusively on a heavily encrypted portable drive and have some method of quickly destroying the data and possibly even physically destroying the drive (angle grinder or blow torch?).

It is NOT getting harder to become anonymous on the internet and just this week we have heard reports that the 'dark web' drug market has doubled since the closure of the Silk Road. Anonymous digital currencies are becoming easier to use and you can exchange them for cash on the street. "Deep dot web" makes interesting reading.

My concern is that long jail sentences and public shaming increase demand for complete anonymity. When complete anonymity is easier and more people understand how to achieve it, there will be increased demand for child **** leading to further child abuse. I don't know what the answer is but something needs to be done about the producers of the material rather than simply focusing on consumers.

Some good points. The harder the authorities try to stamp it out the harder the criminals work to hide. Loosely similar to dealing with drug users instead of dealing with the importers. You have stop the supply and availability.

I'm surprised his brief didn't claim he did it by accident because of his Heroin/Alcohol/abuse
d as a child syndrome.

only common paedophiles from the slave society are being arrested.

they refuse to arrest paedophiles in westminster,MPs,free
masons, judges, other elite members of the establishment, judici

whistleblowers of elite paedophiles are being locked up without judge or jury and forcibly medicated,to keep them quiet.

this country and the cowards in the police force, who refuse to arrest them are complicit and an utter disgrace to the good people of this country.
i'm ashamed to be british.

Doubtless there has been some wrongdoing at Westminster over establishment paedophilia, but where is your evidence that " whistleblowers ...are being locked up without judge or jury and forcibly medicated,to keep them quiet"?
