A PERVERT who secretly filmed a teenage girl in the shower received a suspended jail term today.

Timothy Yarnold, 22, set up his iPhone in an empty toothpaste box with a hole cut out in a covert attempt to film his victim - aged 16 at the time - in Weymouth in December 2012.

The ploy was discovered by the victim herself, and other indecent images of her from different occasions were later found in Yarnold's computer by the police.

Ordering him to attend the Thames Valley Sex Offenders course, Judge Peter Johnson said: "She was terrified at what was recorded, and at what you might have done with the videos.

"You remain completely unconcerned about her feelings."

He said Yarnold, who had previously made "bizarre" videos of himself performing a sex act on himself in his car in public locations, had suggested women he recorded shouldn't complain as they were captured on CCTV all the time.

"Your thought processes are warped," the judge added at Bournemouth Crown Court.

Yarnold, of Grantley Gardens, Plymouth, who had pleaded not guilty to two counts of voyeurism and two of possessing indecent images, claimed they had been placed on his computer to frame him. He was convicted after a trial.

In mitigation, Neil Hinton said the offences, while embarrassing and uncomfortable for the victim did not constitute "serious sexual harm".

Judge Johnson imposed a six month prison sentence suspended for two years, ordered him to sign the sex offenders register for seven years, and imposed a Sexual Offences Prevention Order banning him from unisex changing facilities.
