A HANDFUL of Virgin Media customers lost their TV and broadband for several hours after an articulated lorry smashed into a junction box in Old Town Poole.

The heavy vehicle smashed the green box close to the mini-roundabout on Lagland Street, lifting it almost out of the ground and ploughing it into a fence at around 7am this morning.

The accident cut connections to about 10 households, according to a Virgin Media spokesman.

Engineers were on site that morning and everyone had their services reconnected by 1pm.

The box was rebuilt later the same day.

Police were informed of the accident but did not attend.
