AN extra Sunday bus service has been added to a popular Poole route to keep people moving this summer.

Route 152 between Rockley Park and Poole bus station, via Lower Hamworthy, will be boosted with an additional service from Sunday, which will run on Sundays and Bank Holidays throughout the school summer holidays.

While residents are sure to be able to take advantage of the half-hourly service to the town centre, as a boon to holidaymakers there will be a slight change to the normal 152 route.

During the summer it will follow most of the route normally taken by the Route ONE bus providing easy and convenient access to Poole Quay, Poole Park as well as Poole Hospital.

Councillor Ian Potter, cabinet portfolio holder for transportation, said: “This new Sunday service meets long-standing requests from passengers for a Sunday timetable on the 152 service and on Route ONE. We are sure it will be a big hit with local people and visitors who want to explore the town centre and Poole's popular local attractions. It will also give an added boost to the local economy and enhance Poole's tourism offer at the height of the summer season."

The new route starts on Sunday and will be operated by Damory every Sunday until August 31.
