WACKY racers will bring their decorated pedal cars to Ringwood this weekend for the British Pedal Car Grand Prix.

Fundraisers and competitors will take to the streets tomorrow for the Ringwood Brewery-sponsored race, which starts at 2pm.

In preparation for the hotly-fought race, a temporary circuit was set-up at Christchurch Hospital, enjoyed by some of the 34 pedal cars taking part.

The course provided a half mile circuit with bumps, bends and straights that enabled the teams taking part to analyse their cars and the fitness of the pedalling volunteers.

One team of competitors taking part are from the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals Trust estate department, who have fashioned their pedal car to resemble a wartime field ambulance.

For the first time, event sponsors Ringwood Brewery will be entering their own car in the race – its colours will be blue and yellow to match the brewery’s ale, Bondoogle.
